A Sad Day for Democracy

The Supreme Court of California decided to uphold proposition 8 denying gays the right to marry. This is a very sad day for Democracy. The rights of a minority are being denied.

The problem is that it isn't JUST the right to have a marriage ceremony. It's all the rights that go with it. Civil unions do not give partners many of the rights marriage does.

I'm so glad I didn't move to California. I'd be ashamed to be a Californian today.
